Dr. Who? Oh...Billie Piper

The British have their own way of choosing celebrities and making people popular. Although we don't like or understand it any more than we like or understand the Americans' process, we are often surprised to see what passes for celebrity or success in different countries.

One thing we do like is sci-fi, and the Dr. Who franchise is undeniably epic. Currently in its Nth incarnation since the early 1960s, the show has always featured a winsome lass who accompanies the Doctor through time and space via the T.A.R.D.I.S. In some recent seasons this has been Rose Tyler, played by Billie Piper (real name Leanne).

Lest there be any question that Piper's personal story is not worthy of our attention, I'll just say that anyone who publishes an autobiography at age 23 has something to compensate for.

She started out as a singer. We are guessing she also started out as a brunette, based on those bodacious brown brows.

Oh well, so we're not big fans. But we know she's popular, so here's hoping that these pics give some of you some joy on this Friday. There are more, and we'll post them later on.

And lest you think Billie's Rose Tyler has the boldest brows in the Dr. Who series, wait til you see Francine Jones, played by Adjoa Andoh...
