Uh, how great is this? Chip Willis quit his long-time day job and is doing what he was meant to do: taking photos. Of beautiful, gorgeous, sexy, nude women. With beautiful eyebrows.


Not sure who this model is, but she's what you see when you look up "sexiness" in the dictionary.

But check this out! Chip said:

The goal is to one day shoot a model nude with a Tornado in the background.

Why is that so hot? We really are perverts! Do it, Chip!

We Loved It First: Chip Willis Hits the News Stand

If this image looks familiar, it's because we showed it some love last August.

Now some Russkies from Bolshoi Gorod ("Big City") have gotten their mittens on it and made it the cover of their current issue.

We say congrats to Chip Willis on this cover, the first of many, we're sure.

One of our figure photography pet peeves is the ubiquitous black and white shot of a nude model with light filtering through a venetian blind, making a stripey pattern on her body. Ooooh!! Contours!!! Ooooh!!! Art!!!! Whatever. Get a new idea.

Meanwhile, one of our favoritest photographers, Chip Willis, has weighed in with his own version. What is it that, in his words, he will "NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER EVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER use" on a model?

The Same, but Totally Different: Chip Willis and Isabella

We recognized this photo on Chip Willis's blog this week, and yet we couldn't help thinking...there was something different about it from the last time we saw it.


So we checked.

Amazing how black and white can send a different (equally great, but in a whole different way) vibe from color.

And since we like to include "new" content, how about some more of Isabella? Can you believe this? We can't.

We were going to go on a rant about how Chip Willis has stopped blogging, but we thought we'd better check to make sure. D'oh! We somehow lost our RSS feed to his blog, and he's been posting stuff all along!

We will renew that connection so we don't miss a thing from Ohio.

Meanwhile, we love the sort of "distorted reflection-ness" of this. Maybe it was experimental, maybe he knew precisely what he was doing. You never know with Chip. Point is, for us, it's not about the process, it's about the results.

The other day I mentioned that Engel Schrei was popping up as the objet d'art in several of our fave photographers' folios. One fan pays tribute to her versatility by calling her "the Swiss Army knife of models." And to our honor and delight, she heard us talking about her on Blubrow, swooped down, and left a comment.

Admit it. When you look at artistic photography of women (not just nudes, either), you pretend that you could do that, if you had an expensive camera, a bright light, and a pretty model. But guess what?

You could not do that.

Why not? Here's why: You don't get it.

You have to be an artist, have a knowing eye, an original idea and the balls to follow through. And that's what Ohio photographer Chip Willis has. He gets it.
