End of an Era: Our Final Eyebrow Post

It's been a great run.  But now we're done. This is the final blog post on Blu's Eyebrow Blog.

We'd planned to run up about a half dozen more posts, just to get to 1,600 total posts. But it's becoming too much of a chore, and not as fun as it used to be. So we'll stick with curating the Flickr group Women's Eyebrows, and leave this site up for search engines to find.

We also thought a lot about whose photo to use in our final post. Our first-ever post, back in March of 2007, showed this corner of Ines Sastre:

And it's right that it have a place of honor here at the end.

But there's really no arguing about the icon of all eyebrow-centric thinking. It's the one, the only, Audrey Hepburn. The last of our looks at Audrey (in the 33rd post to mention her), is at the bottom of this column. Before we share Funny Face, though, here are a few stats from the almost 6 years of eyebrow blogging here:

• Total posts: 1,595
• Comments: 152
• Page views all time: about 975,000

We checked on the most popular posts of all time too...some surprises, based on the lethal combo of our tags and peoples' search proclivities:

• Most popular (54,000 views): Something Sticking Out: Amateur Oops
• 2nd most popular (18,700 views): Feast of Eyebrow Love: Radha Mitchell
• 3rd most popular 18,000 views): Tennis Pro Ashley Harkleroad, Nude

Note that the #1 all-time keyword search driving traffic to us has been: "Oops." We also get a lot of people looking for nude photos of Maggie Siff, who we blogged twice but then forgot about because we don't think she's interesting.

Our biggest month for traffic ever was easily May 2008. That's when we got a link from Fleshbot, Gawker's pr0n site. We were also on a roll anyway, with more than 50 posts that month, generating extra traffic.

Our number one source of traffic, with more than 24,000 clicks through, is IndieNudes. We mentioned them in June 2007 and they linked to us, and the hits just keep on coming. Thanks again for the link, guys.

Worldwide, we're most popular in the USA, followed by the UK, Germany, Canada, and France.

Enough with the stats. You don't care about that anyway. Here's our final hurrah, as we hurtle past the 1,000,000 page views mark. Thanks to all our readers, commenters, contributors, and friends. It's been a great ride – we'll see you on Flickr.

It's been a long time since we've come across anything new of Ines Sastre, so we're going to the archives. If you have something better, email it.

Oh Crap. We Screwed That Up.

Apparently, we were so busy enjoying our job of documenting the world's eyebrows, that we completely missed our own birthday. Damn.

It took an observant and loyal reader named Sissi to bring this oversight to our attention. Indeed, on March 4, 2007 we launched Blu's Eyebrow Blog with a close-up of a brow that remains a standard to this day: it belonged to Ines Sastre.

Since then we've come a long way, with more than 900 postings. One or two of them have featured images from Tatler, and we continue with that tradition today, as well as providing you with another glimpse of Ms. Sastre.

Oh – and it wouldn't be a celebration without some side-boob, would it?

For This We Are Thankful: Ines Sastre

It's Thanksgiving Day in the United States. For our non–US readers, this is a day where obese Americans eat twice as much as they normally do and then go to their in–laws' house and do it again. Then they fall asleep in front of the television, where some pointless football game (Detroit versus Dallas!) is on and ten minutes after the game is over, nobody can remember the score.

Also, it's the day when we sit down and think – really think – for like 15 seconds about all the things we have to be grateful for.

At our Blubrow HQ corporate Thanksgiving Vegetarian Feast that means being grateful that there is Ines Sastre.

Can you believe we haven't posted Ines Sastre's eyebrows since March? We apologize.

OK, that's a lie. Ines doesn't talk to us.

Meanwhile, I'm celebrating our birthday...a week late. I've been so busy working late nights at the heaquarters of Worldwide Blubrow that I totally missed the anniversary of our first posting! That's right, March 4, 2007 is when the blog was born!

365 days later, this is our 389th posting! And the 100th of 2008. So join [Ines and] me in celebration.

Out With a Bang: Sastre Walks on Water

When we started brow blogging back in March - more than 280 posts ago! - we decided that Ines Sastre was worthy of the task of launching this blog.

Since then we've seen everything from "how to" videos to porn stars, and from royalty to Hollywood's most famous starlets. It's been a good year for obsessing over eyebrows.
