Mass Eyebrow Effect

We're not big into video games (we prefer chess – in fact, one of us is a National Grandmaster Flash). However, we might steal a Wii or whatever from Best Buy to check out Mass Effect 2. Because we're digging this character's eyebrows. We think she's an alien, and we know her name is Miranda.

Much better rendered than that shitty Second Life crap.

Gibson Girl Eyebrows

Right before Christmas, we showed you an illustration with a variety of 1960s (?) misses. Here's a similar view, but going back to the days of the Gibson Girl. We love it. Thank you, Charles Dana Gibson.

How About a Little Head?

The name of the illustrator was cropped from this fun collection before it arrived at Blubrow HQ, so we're not sure who drew these vintage lasses. But we love them. And we have our favorite (but we're not telling).

Which is your favorite?

Two more postings before we hibernate for a bit, so enjoy this and keep sending your favorite eyebrows via email.

The World's Worst Women

Who knew that The World's Worst Women have some of the more interesting eyebrows? Seen on Ffffound.

Ben-Day Makes Our Day

You know those half-toney dots that the old comics used to use to show shading and color? They're called Ben-Day Dots, after 19th century illustrator Benjamin Day. And we saw this awesomely cool idea for a Halloween get-up and had to share!

We also liked this one, from That's My Skull:

More ben-day brows are at the Lichtenstein Project online.

Jennifer's Body: But Is It Art?

We've never seen Megan Fox in an actual movie (or anyplace except for photos). So we don't know about her acting, so we'll just assume it sucks. But we know about her eyebrows, and although they're very controlled – not always in a good way – there's a lot of raw material there.

And now, thanks to the film Jennifer's Body, it has inspired art! Some comics artists are trying to make the best of the flimsy story material, and the way to do that is to show some cleavage, some blood and some...eyebrows.

OK. We get it. But we still prefer the real thing. Or as real as a Hollywood actress gets.

Yes, she's setting her tongue on fire. What? You never did that?

Naked Maja

If you hauled your sorry ass to a museum every once in a while you'd learn a thing or two. And you'd understand the profound brilliance of our blog post title.

Anyway, this set comes from Maja Magazine which isn't a magazine at all; it appears to be a web site with naked chicks on it. One of whom has these cool eyebrows.

Makeup Artist Jennifer West

We're very generous with our praise for photographers, and even models (of course). But when you stop to think about it, you realize that a lot of the credit for the awesomeness of the best eyebrows is owed to the makeup artists who tease the mostest out of the ladies' brows.

Some of the photographers are quick to credit the makeup assistants (and wardrobe helpers). And one of the names we've noticed in conjunction with the great brows is Jennifer West. Here's some of her work (but now we don't know the photographer's or models' names):

Spacesick?

Spacesick is the Flickr username of a dude named Mitch who is a funny, talented, artistic guy. And like all of us, he has a blog.

Rebel Without Her Clothes: Sasha Grey

You know what's classy?

Art.

No, wait. Porn.

Wait. Porn and art. They're both classy. This proves it.

Excellent painter and all around cool art dude James Jean has worked with non-traditional artist's model Sasha Grey to produce some great imagery. One sample is below, but there are more on his web site.

Scroll-down plea: Please tell us you got the reason we picked that particularly referential subject line? Please?

Muriel and Marlene from Hegre

Today is President's Day in the United States, a more real holiday than Valentine's Day, insofar as some government stuff is closed.

And Petter Hegre is the President of Nudity. The photo above of a model named Muriel proves it. And in case you weren't sure if this was porn, well, it's not. The URL for the web site has the word "Art" in it. So that settles that.

Anyway, since we sense some lingering doubt on your part, here's part of the image that currently graces the site's home page. An art model named Marlene.

Scroll-down hedged bet: We couldn't decide on the whole art/porn thing ourselves, so we used both tags.

Hero Hayden, Comic Book Style

I think the artist is DC Comics' Michael Gaydos, but maybe it's not. In any case, the subject is clearly Hayden Panettiere. Kick ass!

Shock and Awe: Las Drogas del...Horror!!!

When the editorial staff meets each day at Worldwide Blubrow HQ, we review possible blog posts, and suggest possible commentaries and subject lines.

When this one hit the table, though, there was — for the first time in corporate memory — nothing but stunned silence:

Why? Simple: This illustration is great for so many reasons that there is no point in even attempting to talk about it.

The end.

Glimmer for Glamour: Illustrated Ad Brows

We don't know if Jantzen was the "best of all swimsuits," but we also don't care. We just appreciate the folks at Found in Mom's Basement for scaring up this vintage illustration with its outrageous brows:
