Brow Smackdown from Style Bistro

We were cautiously pessimistic about how "fun" it would be to play Style Bistro's guessing game, "Who has the best brows?"

First of all, only we are allowed to answer that question. But we went ahead and played the game anyway...

Who Has the Best Brows?

We got 17 out of 20.

How did YOU do?

Be warned: you'll be confronted with horrific "choices" like this....

Other brows featured belong to:

Doutzen Kroes
Jennifer Connelly
Brooke Shields
Cindy Crawford
Maria Menounos
Miley Cyrus
Cheryl Burke
Audrina Partridge
Victoria Justice
Carmen Electra
Diana Agron
Jessica Lowndes
Katie Holmes
Coco Rocha
Jennifer Hudson
Christina Milian
Katy Perry
Serena Williams
Lauren Goodger
Nikki Reed
Vera Farmiga
Leona Lewis
Elizabeth Olsen
Abigail Breslin
Victoria Beckham
Olivia Palermo
The Monster Fergie

and

J Lo

Our pick for the best, based on the photos they used, is actually Jessica Lowndes. We'll feature her some other time.

Hope Solo So Close, But No Go

Long ago (2007!) we wrote about Hope Solo, the goalie on the US soccer team. We said then that she was a loudmouth egoist, and she was.

Fast forward to 2011. We do not know whether she is still the loudmouth she was back then, because we made a point of not really listening to interviews. We just watched the Women's World Cup soccer tournament and enjoyed it. The US couldn't pull it off, losing on penalty kicks. But it was not Hope Solo's fault.

She's taking advantage of her current visibility and making the talk show rounds. That's fine. Here she is on the red carpet at some Entourage event. Brows are still in force.

And Now, Sport

There's a soccer tournament going on in Africa. We have imported a large supply of bootleg vuvuzelas and rise early each day to cheer on our favorite squads.

We wanted to remind you that next time you're at a stadium to attend a match in person, look around and see who else is there.

This photo from 1969 shows the wives of the players on the Dutch side Ajax of Amsterdam. The pretty lady on the right caught our attention, and is none other than Carla Suurendonk. Her husband, Ruud Suurendonk, was the "Twelfth Apostle" on the famous team before Johnny Rep joined the side in '72.

But we digress. Back to the eyebrows.

Erica Blasberg R.I.P.

Recent news from the world of pro golf: 25-year old Erica Blasberg was found dead in her Las Vegas home, and authorities are tight-lipped about the cause of death and the circumstances. Whatever the real story, sad to lose young people with bright futures.

We don't follow golf, but we had flagged this portrait of Blasberg by photographer Keith Allison, whose work we appreciate:

Then Again, Why Would He?

Here at Blubrow we have a deep, abiding belief that there's no reason for men to get married.

That means you, Derek Jeter.

So Minka Kelly, seen here out on the town, may not be snaring the pinstriper in her nets just yet.

Sources close to a well-connected member of Worldwide Blubrow's Board of Directors know someone who once met a guy who said his UPS delivery guy lived across the street from someone whose kid spent a couple of hours with Minka Kelly's neighbor in detention after school one day in 8th grade, like 10 years ago. And that person says they're not getting married.

Goodbye Football. Hello Baseball.

Heading into March means one thing – and we're not talking about college basketball. We're talking about baseball.

Of course, this means bidding adieu (that's French!) to football until next fall.

This bitch doesn't care – she's not even watching the goddamn game.

More Olympic Brows: Cynthia Phaneuf

We were happy to see Canadian patineuse (that's French!) Cynthia Phaneuf on related blog Bold Natural Eyebrows, because we agree that she rocked the eyebrows on the ice! These photos are from prior appearances, not from the Olympics...

We didn't want to show her falling down, but we couldn't find many good photos that show the brows...

We really like the gloves. Just sayin'.

Amy Williams: The Skeleton Has Eyebrows

There's a crazy-ass winter sport that only surfaces in the public consciousness during the Olympic Games (which is now). Racers throw themselves down face first on a cookie sheet that quickly reaches some ungodly speed approaching 100 mph. If they live, they can earn Olympic gold – like today's featured athlete, Great Britain's Amy Williams. We saw her interviewed and immediately disliked her, but she gets credits for having the only decent eyebrows we've seen in the Games so far.

There was some controversy over whether her helmet was within the regulations, but the truth is, nobody really gives a good goddamn. For better or worse, the sport is already forgotten until the next winter Olympic Games.

Scroll-down honest outburst: Congratulations, Amy. You goddamned cheater!

Makes Perfect Sense

Let's say you're the perfect stud. Who's your girlfriend?

The perfect babe. With superb eyebrows.

Not convinced? Here's a thought experiment....take someone like baseball's Derek Jeter. He's the perfect stud. (If you can't understand this, then just stop reading now and scroll down to the pictures, then catch your flight home to Boston).

Jeet's current squeeze? TV actress Minka Kelly. See below.

We'll see her again. And if you're nice we'll throw some panties and a nipple in there. About a month from now.

Kaz Goes Krazy - Hey Wait. Is That....

Is that New York Yankees color commentator Suzyn Waldman in this photo by Robert Kazandjian? What the hell is happening around here?

We need to get on with our lives, so here are some regular every day photographer's models:

Whoever all these people are, the photos are for the eyebrows.

More From the World of Golf

We have seen golfer Paula Creamer, but it was in a wallpaper produced by the Ladies Professional Golf Association.

This superb close-up portrait is by Keith Allison.

Golf: Now Even More Dissatisfying

We don't care about golf, but if we did we'd root for Phil Mickelson. Why? Two reasons:

1. He's left-handed, and that probably means that golf courses are harder for him to play, since we assume they are all designed with right-handed players in mind, but honestly, we don't know if there's a big difference, or if at some point (like when you become professional) you are so good at golf that it doesn't matter;

and

2. His wife Amy Mickelson (seen here with silly hat) has pretty decent eyebrows. But now we hear she is diagnosed with cancer which obviously sucks, so since he would be our favorite golfer if we had one, she will be our favorite golfer's wife, if we had one, which we do now, and it's Amy Mickelson. We hope she fights it and wins (like Deanna Favre apparently is doing).

Good luck Amy.

Baseball Brows

Over on Google, the LIFE Magazine archive served up this infield gem. We remembered it after using the word Batgirl in the last post.

In Case You Missed Boxing Day

In December 2007 Rianne ten Haken provided some pugilistic food for thought.

Ponder this: maybe boxing really is, as Liebling claimed, "the sweet science."

Lord Stanley Gets Licked

They don't have cheerleaders in ice hockey, so we're not sure how Hayden Panettiere ended up French kissing the Stanley Cup, but as long as she did, we figured you would want to know about it.

Let's Go Rangers!

Two First Names: Melissa George

Our religion teaches that "thou shalt not trust someone with two first names." Ron Paul. Patrick Henry. Gwen Stacy.

But what if the person has a woman's first name and a man's first name? We're talking about Aussie actress Melissa George, of course.

Our religion also teaches, "thou shalt revere a woman with perfect eyebrows." That Commandment trumps them all. So we're suckers – guilty as charged.

This one's big: click it.

Scroll-down faux sports trivia: Melissa was an international roller skating champion! What the hell?

Even if You Remember the Olympics...

...you may not remember Leryn Franco.

But we do:

There are some things we just don't hear about every day.

One of them (where we live) is Paraguay. That's where Leryn Franco is from.

Another is javelinging. Or javelizing. Or throwing javelins. Or spears. Or whatever.

So when Ms. Franco isn't doing this:

She's doing this:

And we respect that. A lot.

Milene Domingues

If you're thinking, "these look like pictures from some site with pictures of dudes' ex-wives," you are correct. This is some dude's (first) ex-wife. But the dude happens to be international soccer (football) star Ronaldo.

And the ex-wife happens to be Milene Domingues, one of the most talented soccer players in the world in her own right. And the talent extends beyond her eyebrows. She is not only one of the most highly compensated players of the women's sport, she holds the record for juggling a soccer ball: 55, 198 touches without letting it hit the ground.

You think that's dumb? You try it some time.

Scroll-down abdicated effort: Insert joke about "juggling our balls" here.
