Of Elephants and Eyebrows: Dovima

The superbly elegant fashion model known as Dovima represents the person who would appear perfectly at ease with the concept of opera gloves - in the supermarket, or on the playground.

Who was Dovima?

DOrothy VIrginia MArgaret Juba. Photographer Richard Avedon called her the last of the "great elegant, aristocratic beauties," and he may have been right. Here she is with our poster child extraordinaire, Audrey Hepburn, on the set of Funny Face:

Variations by Chris Triance-Martin

Good news if you enjoy photography books in good old-fashioned print format.

Canadia's Chris Triance-Martin has a new volume, Variations. You can buy it online, or you can check out his web site first, to convince yourself you want to buy it.

We plugged his book Nudes in 2009, by the way.

Oh, and in 2008 he cropped up as a collaborator with model Engel Schrei!

Happy Valentine's Day.

Photographer Salomé Vorfas

We've been digging the work of photographer Salomé Vorfas. She has a blog and a cool Flickr stream. Oh yeah, and a kickass Tumblr. Cripes, who doesn't have a Tumblr these days?

We don't.

This set appeared in La Fuga magazine in May 2010, and the model is Belén Bergagna.
