We're sure that Cleopatra was a formidable lady and all, but if the ancient effigies are to be believed, she had nothing on Elizabeth Taylor in the eyebrow department.

And Now an Actual Queen

That heavy dose of beauty queens reminded us that there is actual royalty out there – whatever that means. At least it gives us a reason to gaze upon Queen Rania of Jordan.

Queen Rania of Jordan launched a YouTube channel, and for the effort received the Visionary Award on YouTube Live '08. In the spirit of YouTube live, she sent a recording. Makes no sense.

Nonetheless, we love to see her eyebrows, and here we get to hear her talk. Watch the video from the beginning if you can stand San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom and his cuckolded wife, or do what we did and just fast forward to 3:30 to watch Her Highness imitate David Letterman. With mixed success, but great eyebrows.

We showed Queen Rania of Jordan last month when she visited California schools.

Here she is from a while back. 

That is some quality eyebrow.

Queen Rania Hits California

The news from California recently has been all about wildfire. Here's another meme that's hot: Middle Eastern messengers of reason, sporting a taste for cross-cultural dialog and finely-tuned eyebrows.

I speak, of course, of none other than Her Serene Highness Rania Al Abdullah, Queen of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. And I've spoken of her before.

But this week she was in California and we noticed that the brows are still being well-maintained.




And at a local high school (above), the Queen was seated in between two young ladies who model their own eyebrows on those of Her Royal Highness.

Rania Al-Abdullah, Queen of Jordan

So here's the thing. If you're the king of a country, you can marry anyone you want. And if that's the case, why not pick a hottie with bodacious eyebrows? Huh? HUH? Right. So that's what happened in Jordan. King Abdullah II, a chip off the ol' Hashemite block, selected the lovely Rania Al-Yassin from Kuwait. And we'd say he did alright.

Damn! It's good to be King....
