Although Joe Bowler is our fave eyebrow illustrator, Michael Johnson gets a well-deserved post of his own today....

"This is a Dodge!"
In 1956 Chrysler's Dodge division decided it could market a car strong enough for a man, but made for a woman: the Dodge La Femme. No joke. It was pink and white two-tone, and - get this - it came with an unorthodox accessory package: a matching pink rain cape, purse, and umbrella.
Sweet. And best of all, the ads featured these lovely eyebrows. Those were the days...
Of course, the marketing effort was a complete disaster. You don't see a lot of La Femmes in old family movies...

Raibrows
The second posting ever on Blubrow was Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai. She's in the news this week, getting married to an Indian actor. We don't care much for Bollywood - too much color, too much wavy hand stuff, and too much blinking. But we do dig sitar.
But congrats to Aish. We love her eyebrows.
[Click images for the full treatment. These are large files.]
Scrolldown bonus: Video, baby!! Crank up the volume...
Double bonus! Trivia: Aishwarya was born in Mangalore, India.

Keira Again
Elizabeth Taylor
Whenever I see Elizabeth Taylor on film, one word pops into my head. The word is: "fierce."
Then recently I read an admiring comment about her by Paul Newman, and he used the word "ferocious." So I guess I'm not far off.
Scrolldown bonus: My dad used to joke, "But they never said what Butterfield ate."

Suicide Girl: Claudia
We continue our search for the best eyebrows among the 149,000 photos over at Suicide Girls. Here's Claudia from her set called Twisted. Not bad. And like most of the SGs, she looks best when she's smiling.

More Formula I: Melbourne
In an earlier post we commented on the "pit babes" present at Formula I automobile races internationally. We neglected to mention that there is another category of young lady seen on the track: grid girls. These are the ladies who smile and hold up signs marking the starting position of each driver's car. We'll collect pictures of them as well, but in the meantime here are some ladies spotted at the Australian GP.
What's the Portuguese Word for 'Cosupure'?

Resident Eyebrow: Sandrine Holt
We like watching the Resident Evil movies. Why? Because zombies are awesome!
Just kidding! Zombies make sorry monsters. They are among the worst movie monsters we know. They're slow and they're dumb. We prefer monsters that are fast and smart. But we digress.
The real reason we like Resident Evil (besides Nemesis) is Milla Jovovich. But Resident Evil: Apocalypse has a bonus (and it's not Sienna Guillory, who is boring despite her hot outfit and many guns). It's Sandrine Holt.
Holt's father is Chinese and her mother is French. And you know how we feel about the French. We first noticed her in Black Robe, then Rapa Nui (which is Polynesian for "cute rack"), and a bunch of TV crap, like 24 and Witchblade and stuff. But enough. Just enjoy.
Scroll-down bonus trivia: She's 5'10" (yeah!), and her birth name is Sandrine Ho.

Sci Fibrows: Claudia Black
Yeah, I know! When I saw Aussie hottie Claudia Black in the sometimes-watchable sci fi show Farscape (above) I thought I had died and gone to Eyebrow Heaven.
And when she showed up on a show that was actually (relatively) good, Stargate SG-1, I was floored. But while the Farscape makeup experts played up her good raw eyebrow materials, the Stargaters were in my opinion too restrained and failed to quite live up to the potential.
No matter. She's a fine addition to the Blubrow chronicles.

Daisies Duke It Out - UPDATED
Remember The Dukes of Hazzard? Not the remake, asshole. The TV show.
No? Then you're too young. I stumbled on a picture of '80s chick Catherine Bach, famous for being Daisy Duke on the television series. Here she was. Her eyebrows weren't bad. Among other things.
If you're smart, you will not Google her to find out what she looks like now. Nonetheless, if you're in the right place at the right time, you will find the occasional girl sporting Daisy Dukes, as they came to be known, and you may even catch one or two with decent eyebrows.
Oh, and if you remember enjoying Catherine Bach as Melody in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, you get serious bonus points (watch the trailer and see if you can spot her - don't blink!). I just remember the Buick Riviera that gets shot up in the gas station chase scene - my dad had the same car in pearlescent candy apple red.

UPDATE:
Here's a little hint for those of you having trouble finding Daisy in the trailer:
