Born in 1964: Maggie Cheung & the Pirelli Calendar

Wow.

Some of you may know about the cult following of the legendary Pirelli Calendar. Back in '64, before you were born I guess, the Pirelli tire company produced a calendar for its clients in the trade. Since then it has become a showcase for talented art directors, photographers and models. There are heavy-duty coffee table books that document its development over the decades. And most years there is at least one great pair of eyebrows to ogle.

Which brings us to Hong Kong-born, England-raised actress Maggie Cheung, also a product of 1964, as depicted by New York photographer Patrick Demarchelier. He did his first Pirellical in 2005 in Rio, which was a subdued black and white affair. This year's effort, shot in China, couldn't be more different.

Anyway, as is always the case with interesting eyebrows and photography, the pictures speak for themselves.



1964 was a helluva a year.
