Kaki King, One Year Later

It was almost exactly a year ago that we spotlighted guitarist Kaki King. She continues to perfect her chops.

But her brows might be a little bit the worse for wear. While Kaki is worrying about her frets, we're fretting about her brows! Hopefully she will take a break and get them back to the fine shape they were in a year ago.

Eyebrows #1 and #2

Excuse me! Sir! Yes, you. Under the wide, flat rock! You're missing a good story. (I almost missed this part, but an eagle-eyed reader clued me in – thank you!)

The Governor of New York State has resigned, due to his patroning of a high-priced escort service. He was recorded in the service's records as "Client #9."

And here's one of his providers of $1,000/hour booty call. Ashley Alexandra Dupré. Well, that's her MySpace name. She's actually Ashley Youmans, and she's from New Jersey. But to Client #9, she was "Kristen."

Classy!

Anyway, here are eyebrows #1 and #2. Wow...$500 per eyebrow-hour!:

Scroll-down woman scorned summoning up Hell's fury: Mrs. Silda Spitzer. For what the French would call une femme d'un certain âge, she's pretty good looking.

Ines Says "Happy Birthday Blubrow!"

OK, that's a lie. Ines doesn't talk to us.

Yet.

Meanwhile, I'm celebrating our birthday...a week late. I've been so busy working late nights at the heaquarters of Worldwide Blubrow that I totally missed the anniversary of our first posting! That's right, March 4, 2007 is when the blog was born!

365 days later, this is our 389th posting! And the 100th of 2008. So join [Ines and] me in celebration.

Chronicle This: Lena Headey

As sci-fi shows go, that Sarah Connor show is OK, but not the best.

As movies go, 300 was good, but not great.

As eyebrows go, Lena Headey has the goods. We like her.

Scroll-down nudity reward: As nipples go, Lena Headey is a worldwide favorite. At least, insofar as Blubrow is a worldwide phenomenon.

Leeloo Dallas Multibrow

We love the Luc Besson sci-fi flick The Fifth Element. It's got
  • Bruce Willis, introducing us to a non-pornographic meaning of the phrase "meat popsicle"
  • the evil Zorg (Gary Oldman)
  • Ian Holm as a bumbling priest
  • an alien diva named Plavalaguna (with blue tentacle hair, and stones in her belly)
  • Luke Perry as an archeologist's assistant named Billy
  • Mondoshawans
  • Chris Tucker as Ruby Rhod (yep), and most of all
  • Milla Jovovich as Leeloo, the Fifth Element herself.
Fans of the film love the way Leeloo speaks her own language, the way she says moooltipass, and the white...outfit she wears when she escapes into New York at the start of the film (above). Cosplayers and Comic-con attendees have tried again and again to reproduce this crazy, sexy dress (it's not a dress, but I don't know what to call it). But they don't realize that to pull this off you need
  1. a smoking hot body like Milla (she's a supermodel, people!) and
  2. the ability to faithfully reproduce a garment designed and crafted by one of the world's most famous designers – Jean-Paul Gaultier.
Undaunted, they try. And fail. But we wanted to give props here to a few who tried. This lady has the eyebrows to make us forgive her feeble hair coloring (just go with a wig!), but she's wearing a bra! Did Leeloo wear a bra? No!

This one has the wig, sort of, and some brows to be proud of as well:

But honestly, this young woman is the only one we've seen (and trust us, we've reviewed hundreds) who has the physique to convince us. And the garment itself is about as good as they get. To top it all off, she's sucking Tecate from a can, and she even has a Multipass!

Scroll-down honorable mention: This Flickr subject has it down and looks awesome...except for the armpits. Do you think The Perfect Being has stubble?

Masks. Hoses. Goggles. Latex. Eyebrows

If you think this kind of thing is a turn-on, I don't need to explain to you why it's a turn-on.

If you don't think it's a turn-on, there's no way I can explain it.

So I won't try.

Agyness Deyn: Lighten Up, Ms. Hollins

English Model Agyness Deyn always looks so serious! We'd like to see her with a silly grin, or making funny faces or something.

Really, we don't much care. As long as the eyebrows are in view.

Scroll-down nomenclature critique: Ever notice how people with weird give names spend their lives trying to normalize them? And at the same time, people with ordinary names make their names artifically weird, hoping it will garner them more attention?

Agyness Deyn is really named Laura Hollins. What really makes that great is the quote from her mother:
There are no pretensions. What you see is what you get. She has an inner beauty, more of a sensuality than sexuality, and has never done anything unnatural to herself for the sake of her appearance. She is the epitome of clean-living.
Sorry mum, but the name is pretentious, and we're pretty sure that's peroxide on the Vogue cover...

Kurylenko Gains Traction

Seems like it was a long time ago, but it was only about a month back that I mentioned Ukrainian Olga Kurylenko – a newly-minted Bond girl for film #22: Quantum of Solace.

Word is she's featured in the April issue of Vanity Fair. Meanwhile, here are three different looks for her brows from the past:
