Vintage Volks Ad

OK, there's a lot going on here.

First of all, although they aren't easily discernible, the eyebrows on the lass watching the young man "whiten his tires" are quite fine. So the unknown illustrator of this vintage ad gets props for that.

Second, we love the old Beetles. This one looks to be a 1960 import model, with the single blade front bumper and what appear to be fluted front headlight lenses (clear spec on the US models that year). But wait - the turn signal is on the front fender, but not on the top, where the European models placed them to supplant the door pillar semaphores, which frequently were left in place, despite the wires having been cut so the ....

What's that? You don't care?

Fine.

What I really wanted to comment on was the pose this young lass has chosen. Every All American lad of that era wanted to bend his best girl over the hood of his candy apple red Beetle and, well, leave it to beaver!
