The other day, faithful subscriber Beth dropped an awesome comment on us. It was about Pier Angeli and her wacky, tragic life and family. We hereby offer you that comment, converted into a blog posting, complete with the pictures that Beth linked to, to illustrate her gripping narrative.
Most of all, though — as always — check out the brows...Here's what Beth said in response to our latest on Pier:
"Chain of tragic event and fabulous eyebrow relationships....
Pier's twin was Marisa Pavan:
Marisa married Jean-Pierre Aumont:
...and raised the daughter he'd had with Dominican actress Maria Montez, who'd drowned in a bathtub several years earlier.
This stepdaughter of Marisa's (niece of dear Pier) was named Tina Aumont and was also incredibly gifted in the brow department.
Tina died of a pulmonary embolism last Halloween.
All in all, some hot brows and tangled stories tinged with sadness.
If you stare at this photo long enough, you will see a woman exposing herself!
Scroll-down expiatory compensation: Yeah, we think it's funny the way "Blu" shows up on the beer bottle. But her eyebrows suck! So here's another drunk amateur, withslightly better eyebrows!
A couple of weeks ago we promised we'd see a more polished and professional modeling gig from Oz's Nicole Trunfio. Well this may not be what you had in mind, but if it disappoints you, just sit tight — we'll be back with more of her.
Whoever scanned these two-pages spreads did a not-bad job of setting them up to look "normal." That's unusual, as are Nicole's awesome eyebrows. And stuff.
Thanks to our friends at Found in Mom's Basement, we don't have to volunteer at the Boy Scout Recycling Drive anymore to see awesome eyebrows in print ads from women's magazines. Here's proof!
Of course, one great thing about the Recycling Drive was sorting the publications into categories: Catalogs, Regular Magazines, and Porn. So for those of you pining for the latter, here's a hit:
Scroll-down explanatory plaque: The cover girl on this 1990 copy of Lui is Léonor Scherrer, daughter of fashion designer Jean-Louis Scherrer .
We don't watch soap operas – except the Brazilian novelas dubbed into Spanish for Mexican TV – so we didn't notice incredibly cute Eden Riegel until now. Oops!
She's seen here on the right, with some of her colleagues (we think) from her online series Imaginary Bitches.
She attended Harvard but wisely quit so we could eventually see her on the red carpet:
The brows have that dental-instrument angle that we love, and are maybe just a tiny bit asymmetrical. That makes them more interesting.
Scroll-down fanboy tribute video: Yay for YouTube!
Listen. We love jazz. We love skirts. We love eyebrows. Guess what?
We love Melody Gardot. Because of her voice, most of all. But also because of these other things. Check her out. Then read on below...
Scroll-down true inspirational story that makes us love her more: Melody was in a serious accident at age 19, and suffered several permanent physical problems as a result. We'll spare you the details, but suffice to say that we going to Facebook to become Fans of "Medicine" for making it possible for us to enjoy Melody and her music. And to Melody we say: Kick ass!
We're still figuring out exactly what a quantum of solace is, but while you wait for the James Blonde movie to arrive, here's another of Bond's Olga Kurylenko:
If the worst thing about Fernando Bagnola's web site is the machine translated About Me section, he's doing just fine. Turn the sound on and enjoy the cool jazz while you wait for the Flash images to load...then enjoy this Brazil– and Portugal–based artist's work.
Promise us that if you find yourself in Brazil, you'll head over to party with the people of Freakstyle.
We've documented their street-wise fashion radarbefore. And they have a regular series of par-tays (that's Portuguese), with fine folks like those you see here. So visit them and report back.
Scroll-down eye-damage: Here is Freakstyle's Vai! party page on MySpace. Get some bandages for your eyes, and turn up the volume while you scroll through the party pics.
Hey, does that first photo mean we should use the "smoking" tag? Nah.
So the other day I jokingly said, "What's next — Bulgaria?" Guess what?
That's exactly what's next. Feast your eyes on the multi-talented Tanya Gramatikova. Her talents? She's an outstanding artistic photographer. And...she's a model. Behold:
If you're still breathing, you are not paying attention.
What's better than a beautiful woman with great eyebrows...?
...A beautiful woman with great eyebrows who can take great photos and look great modeling for great photos. We're a fan!
Yeah! It's a photo based on that famous movie, Naked-ass Breakfast at Tiffany's! From the lens of Russia's Alexey Aloisov[deviantART login required] here is model Olga Malysheva:
Check out runway model Marija Vujović (now that we've shed some of our guilt about objectifying women via the fashion industry). She has worked with many fashion and glamour photographers, including Patrick Demarchelier.
First Albania, now Montenegro. What's next — Bulgaria?
Scroll-down geography & government trivia lesson: Marija was born in Podgorica, Montenegro. But when she was born (1984) it was Titograd, Yugoslavia. And her uncle is Filip Vujanović — the President of Montenegro. I guess that makes her the Lauren Bush of Montenegro. Or something.
At Blubrow we don't get all high and mighty, or even act as if we care. But here (in addition to these photos of beautiful model Ali Michael) is something worth thinking about.
If you start at the eyebrows, as we do, and then work your way down, you'll generally find the rest of the woman carrying those brows around. And sometimes that woman is a fashion model.
So...If you were a young woman who was 5'9" and weighed 129 lbs., do you think your legs would be "too plump"? We don't think so.
But we know that if you were that woman and you were a fashion model and some industry bigshot in Paris told you that, you would believe it. And then you'd drop almost 30 lbs. That's what happened to model Ali Michael.
So we aren't going to give a lecture. We're going to drop these Numéro Tokyo photos on you (and by the way, Ali was mentioned to us via an email from the same reader who brought us Emina and Atossa). After you've enjoyed that, scroll back up and check out Ms. Michael's scrawny thighs, then check out the video embedded below.
A loyal reader (thank you!) turned us on to Atossa Leoni. Who else but someone born in Germany, of Iranian descent, and living in L.A. could portray an Afghan woman? Meet Ms. Leoni of Kite Runner fame. We'll see more of her, we are quite sure.
We are so totally, digitally close to the interblags that we noticed something on our Yahoo! home page. It was a little box that had links to the most "popular mobile searches: Celebrities."
And we noticed that most of the celebrities (all of whom are women) were people you've seen on this very blog. So let's check them out:
Kim Kardashian:
Hayden Panettiere:
Mila Kunis:
Keira Knightley:
And here's one whom we haven't featured, but who (in this photo anyway) just made the cut...
Jessica Alba:
Alas, not all the popular mobilely searched celebs made the cut. We're going to have to leave you without a photo of Jessica Simpson's eyebrows. They just aren't up to par.
