Suicide Girl: Vuokko

Vuokko is not what we'd call "hot." But she's very appealing. Enjoy.

Introducing Joe Bowler

Joe Bowler (b. 1928) sold his first illustration to Cosmopolitan at age 19, in 1947. His stock in trade for a couple of decades was the romantic story art that makes the major women's magazines of that era so great to peruse - you know the ones...Wedding Gown For Sale: Never Worn, and so on. Good Housekeeping (what a concept!), McCall's, Ladies' Home Journal, the Saturday Evening Post, Redbook...

And he did ads. Philip Morris, Pepsi, La-Z-Boy. He ended up hospitalized with polio at age 30 but has continued on and is a successful painter of oil portraits and saccharine vignettes (little kids with puppies, crap like that). But we forgive him, because in our book of illustrators, Joe Bowler is the King of the Eyebrow. And that's not a coronation we perform casually.

So here are a few to get started with. There will be many more, we promise!

Formula I Pit Babes

This is the time of year when Formula I auto racing resumes, with its glitzy international image. Part of the show consists of the "pit babes" who wander the racetracks and related areas, posing in advertisement-spangled outfits (some of them quite skimpy), and generally looking vapid. Every once in a while, though, there are a few with eyebrows worth considering. We'll keep an eye out for them and share as we find them.

Here are a few from a year or two ago.

Random Model Gabrielle B

We learned about the site known as Met Art the other day, and they have provided some more handsome brows for us to gaze upon - along with some other treats (I know you will forgive the non-eyebrow photo below). Enjoy Gabrielle B.

Brazil's Céu

There's a new Brazilian musician on the scene. Her name is Maria do Céu Whitaker Poças, but she goes by Céu. We like samba, we like marchinhas, we like violão, we like Brazilian ska, we like bossa nova, and we like axé (the music, not the deodor- oh sorry, the body spray), but we're not big fans of that great Bermuda Triangle of music, so-called "world music."

Anyway, Céu sounds to us a little too much like Helen Folasade Adu - aka Sade - but we're fans of the brows.

And Sade...she gets a posting of her own.

And here's Céu's album.

Random Model Sandra

Another faux-artsy site is Met Art. Don't get me wrong. There are some fabulous physiques posing there. But is it art?

No, but who cares? Here's Sandra. Nice to see a redhead representing....
