Our childhood babysitters remember her bounding about in the arms of Yul Brynner in a hoop skirt on a shiny ballroom floor in a Siamese palace. (Incidentally, her songs in The King and I were dubbed by Marni Nixon, who made a career of recording over the mediocre singing voices of Kerr, Natalie Wood (West Side Story) and Audrey Hepburn (My Fair Lady)).
However you remember her, or even if you're too young (or clueless) to have heard of her, take a moment and enjoy her stylish look and presence.
Scroll-down popcorn-popping bonus: Here's the trailer for The King and I. Turn up the sound, kids (and don't miss the Fox Movietone Fanfare at the end)!
